     Have you ever been accused of something you did not do? In 'Holes' by Louis Sachar, the main character Stanley Yelnats the fourth is accused of something he did not do. He was sent to juvenile camp, Camp Green Lake. The readers might feel sorry for him, but surprisingly, he never gets mad about it. How can that be? let's find out.
     Stanley was sent to camp for 18 months. He had found out that there was no lake in camp green lake, and he hand to dig a hole every day, five foot deep and five foot long. He met zero at the camp, who has never gotten any education. They became friends, and runs away from the camp together. They find treasure, Stanly is proven innocent, and the book ends with a happy ending.
     The book goes back and forth in the past and present, which makes whole story interesting at the end because they all connect together eventually. I think that although it can be confusing, this time jump became a page-turner for me.
     I think that the author wanted to make the readers think deeply. The book actually contains great depth, and gives the readers something to think about. For instance, the book shows how the world can be so unfair to you, and what you can do about it, like Stanley. The people in camp green lake seemed to lack responsibility for the kids, but rather tried to earn something from their labor. I think that this book also shows some things in the society as well as the story.
     Check out the legend-like story between Stanley and Zero's ancestors. Find out how Stanley's great-great-grandfather became a disgrace for the whole family. The story can be confusing, but it really makes the readers think.
